Solution

While there are significant challenges ahead, Physicians for Healthy Hospitals believes the following framework will be instrumental in helping our hospitals succeed.

• Local physicians must be made a part of any solution to keep our hospitals open.  Local physicians have the established practices and patients necessary to increase hospital admissions and reimbursements
• Immediate efforts must be taken to resolve all regulatory issues to keep the hospitals safe and ensure that critical federal funding is not lost
• Partnerships must be developed with healthcare industry leaders to bring specialty services and university clinical programs to our communities
• The new owners of our hospitals must commit to keep them operating as full-service medical facilities and not turn them into nursing homes
• A new financial model must be implemented to ensure the hospitals’ future fiscal solvency
